This is pretty freakin sweet: a bunch of guys in Florida have a white Chevy HHR that is converted to a new ECTO-1 and they have all kinds of newly designed and “modernized” ghost busting and ghost detecting equipment! It’s a pretty interesting concept, applying retro-futuristic design to something that was future tech in 1985.
All of their work looks great, and is made from some VERY inexpensive and common parts. Old welding goggles, pvc end caps and connectors, water bottles, conduit, toggle switches, and CHINESE TOY LEDS. Gotta love it! There’s some pretty impressive Nerf guns dressed up as Proton Rifles, updated PKE meters, and some great looking “ghost viewing” night goggles made from about $6 worth of parts.
Each prop has a few paragraphs about it and multiple very well lit photos. There’s even some youtube videos of the lighting effects. If you make props, you owe it to yourself to take a look at these guy’s work. http://www.firebladecomics.com/customs.html
Fuckin a, why don’t we have more “ghostpunk” or “spectralpunk”? This is brilliant and seems to only be applied to Ghostbusters costuming. We should totally push for it to phase out steampunk.
